Testimonials
"As a first year principal at Turner Elementary,
I am thrilled to have the support of Communities
In Schools of the Nation's Capital. The passionate
and professional support displayed by my CIS Site
Coordinator is not only valued by the school community,
but it reaps positive outcomes for the children
we serve. Communities In Schools' unrelenting commitment
to brokering high-quality academic and social resources
for Turner's underserved students is critical to
helping them achieve their full potential both in
school and in life. I anticipate a very successful
school year with CIS on board."
Mr. Robert Gregory, Principal
at Turner Elementary School
"Communities In Schools plays a vital role in
bringing high quality programs and services to the
Ferebee-Hope campus and community. For example, through
our partnership with CIS, all of Ferebee-Hope's 3rd
through 5th grade students participate in a hands-on,
environmentally-themed service learning program run
by the Discovery Creek Children's Museum of Washington.
The exposure and knowledge students gain from their
experiences with Discovery Creek and other CIS-brokered
services are invaluable. Thanks to Communities In
Schools, Ferebee-Hope students have access to community
resources that ordinarily would be out of their reach.
And what makes CIS so unique is that they manage and
coordinate all of the volunteer efforts, which frees
the principal to focus on teaching and learning. We
treasure our relationship with CIS and look forward
to continued successes on behalf of the children and
their families at Ferebee-Hope."
Mr. C. Maurice Porter, Principal
of Ferebee-Hope Community School Complex
