Community leaders, education officials, and supporters gathered for the 3rd Annual All In for DC Kids Reception and Fundraiser, an event focused on advancing student success and strengthening Community Schools across Washington, DC. Attendees included DC’s State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Antoinette Mitchell; honorees; school leaders; members of the CISNCAP Board of Directors; site coordinators; organizational leadership; and key community stakeholders.
The evening underscored the critical role Community Schools play in supporting students and families. Remarks from Dr. Mitchell emphasized the importance of coordinated, citywide efforts to improve student outcomes. Additional reflections were shared by CISNCAP alumna Amani Barnes and honorees Dr. Rennie Taylor and Joanne Asbill, each highlighting the power of sustained partnerships and student‑centered support.
One of the evening’s most compelling moments came from Amani Barnes, a graduate of H.D. Woodson High School and current freshman at Norfolk State University, who spoke about the continued encouragement she receives from her CISNCAP site coordinator. Her remarks illustrated the long‑term impact of community‑based support and the enduring relationships at the heart of the CISNCAP model.
The organization also received special recognition from the Executive Office of Mayor Muriel Bowser, presented by Marcus Manning, in honor of the dedication of CISNCAP site coordinators and their measurable impact on students, families, and school communities.
The event also drew continued engagement from District leadership, including DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, Councilmember Matthew Frumin, and members of the DC State Board of Education, signaling sustained public‑sector support for Community Schools and cross‑sector collaboration.
