The DC Coalition for Community Schools held a press conference, bringing together partners such as Communities In Schools of the Nation’s Capital, EmpowerEd, the Washington Teachers’ Union, Mary’s Center, the Latin American Youth Center, FreshFarm, State Board of Education leaders, and others.

Together, we express urgent concerns about proposed budget cuts, including the removal of OSSE Community School funding in the Mayor’s budget, which jeopardize critical student supports.

Looking ahead to FY27, CISNCAP is at a pivotal point. Without renewed and sustained investment, thousands of students risk losing access to trusted relationships, mental health services, and essential wraparound supports.

Our model is effective, but it depends on consistent public/private investment. Now is the time to protect proven solutions and support DC students and families.
